Possible places to show

I know we have the place on e6th and grand. I was also thinking of talking to the East Village Bookstore and seeing if they might be interested doing some thing with use where we could show are art in there shop for a night and have music and food. They of course would be able to sell books. I'm not going to approach them till we have a name and a website started. I was told the empty building rent some one thought was more than $200 but we will not know until we contact the owner. I also think we should wait on that.

Java Joes

I know the new owner of Java Joes and she said she would be interested in doing a one nite show with food and music. They also have wine so they could do a wine tasting. I told her that I would keep her up to date.

The owner of Java Joes got back with me and is very interested in doing a one day show. She has a nice size room off to the side that a theatre group leases. So to rent it for half a day would be $110.00. If its a collaboration I might be able to get her to help with the cost or she might supply the music food and wine tasting and all we do is rent the rent and set up and be there. They are new owners so there going to be painting the walls soon. Which it really needs. I also have a few paintings hanging in there. Thought Id just throw it out to the group as a possible show. There well none and close to court. Also close to several other restaurants and bars. I dont think it would be hard to advertise. either. Thought it might be a good easy place to start with. Java Joe's is also very well know with a wide diverse group of patrons.

Any chance someone from JJ's could come to one of our next 2 meetings?

I emailed to see if she could come? I think if she does she might want us to meet at Java Joe's. What do you think?

How about the next meeting we meet at Mars Cafe to get our name and mission statement finalized? I really am not comfortable in meeting with a business when we are still in the planning stages. It makes me feel like we are giving the impression of being unorganized. I really feel we are only one meeting away from being really focused and ready to push ahead. These are just my thoughts. I think Mr. Busbee really helped us focus our thoughts and energies. I think we need a chance to meet after reflecting on his guidance, to make sure we are all on the same page before we present an organized proposal.

Jim - thank you for working with Java Joes to make this a very good possiblity! I think it is great to have a couple of shows with each other to work out any "kinks" before doing something on a larger scale for an art walk-type event.

I'm with Brad - we can take this next meeting to iron out the name and mission statement, and also talk about our ideas regarding the specifics of the show(s) at JJ's.

do we want to pic a name and mission statement on here or wait til Wed? But we for sure do need to get organized and figure out what we are going to do as a business and a group of people. Maybe it would be good to wait to invite the owner of Java Joes til the next meeting after this up coming one?

River Art Walk? there doing music and stuff at times along the river, wonder if we could organize some thing with other groups that do stuff along the river.

I talked to the owner of East Village books and she would love to work with. It would have to be some time after July but that would still work.
