Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
I spoke with the public relations person at Hubbell Realty, the company that own the Kalidescope at the Hub, about a possible Art-A-Holics art show. He said that they generally reserve the space for non-profit groups and educational purpose. I did say that I could send him an e-mail proposal and he would pass it along to the property manager for his/her input. A few questions.
Do you want me to propose it as an art for sale show or just an art showing?
Would December 5 or 12 be okay?
How long would you like me to request? They are open from 10-5.
Thanks for letting me know.

Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
I would say try for an art sale show unless they are not open to that, then maybe just a showing, and being allowed to hand out information about ourselves and our group. Do we have any printed info about our group?

Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
The Kalidescope at the Hub show is on!!! I'm so excited about this. There will be a bunch of foot traffic! Oh, and it is FREE! At least from what I can tell from the license that it is free. I think we need to meet very soon to start making plans. Some things I'm thinking are:
-Who can do the show as it will be on a Friday during the work day?
-What day? I am thinking Friday, December 12, maybe 19th but think crowd would be lighter on that day.
-Displays - Will need free standing displays, tables with easels, some other professional-looking way to display.
-Inviting the Jane360 group to join us.
-Discussion of having your stuff displayed and watched by those who can attend.
-Having the art guy at the Juice do a story on us/the show.
-What kind of advertising, if any?
-Do we want a live musician during the lunch hour, say from 11-2?
Thanks for everyone's feedback on this.

Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
Unfortunately if the show is during the day I probably won't be able to make it since I'll be working. I'll see if I can pull some strings and work it out.
I should be good to go
I should be able to do it I might have to leave early depending on what time it is over. I should be in tho! (brad you rock)
Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
Yeah, good job Brad. I can be around until 2:00 in the afternoon, later if I find someone to pick up the kids for me.

Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
Here's what we discussed at the 11/25 meeting about the Kaliedoscope show:
- The show will be from 10 - 5. I believe that we can start setting up at 6 or 7. Just be sure to be completely set up and ready to go by 10. If you need to leave early, it can't be helped. I know that it looks more professional if everyone stays for the entire show, but sometimes life just gets in the way. Nobody will hold it against you.
- I'm going to propose to the property manager that our show be on the Skywalk level on the inner circle of the Rotunda. We can't have the Rotunda on the street level because school groups are going to be performing. Check out the picture on their website: http://kathdm.com/ We will be against the railing on the middle level. The bottom level is where the school groups are performing. James and I will work on a layout.
- The manager also told me there is a $50 fee. It will come to about $5/person. He didn't tell me this initially. This is SUPER CHEAP for the amount of traffic we will get.
- I'm going to look into a liability policy for the show to see how much money it would cost. I have to put my name on the contract. I want to be protected from a lawsuit.
- We are extending invitations to non-Art-A-Holics members until we reach a maximum number of participants of 12.
- The advertising we are doing will be: email lists, Facebook, MySpace, Craigslist, community calendars, and flyers posted around the Skywalk.
- We are not lining up a musician as there are two school groups scheduled to perform during the day.
- I will keep everyone posted on the definite participants for this show. There are many "maybe's". Right now, I know the following are participating:
Shawn
James
Jake
Brad
Jenny F.
Megan (New)
Lincoln Hover (New)
Phillip Nygard (New)
Thor (Brad will "man" his space.)
Mike D. (Shawn will "man" his space.)

Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
Shawn - Have you heard whether the metal sculptor or pottery people will be joining us?
Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
im real excited about this show. I hope we can get more artists for it.
Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
I'm working on trying to get more. Shawn is also talking to a couple of 3-D artists. If anyone knows of an artist who might be interested, have them get in touch with me at treefrogs3@aol.com
Thank you.
Thank you.
Show Specs
Hi Everyone!
I am new to this forum and I plan to attend Friday's show at the Kaleidoscope (or rather my wife, Misty, will be manning the show), but wanted to find out what the specs are for displaying our art? I know Brad was planning on measuring this week, and just curious if we know what the requirements are yet?
I'm looking forward to the show!!

Re: Kaliedoscope at the Hub Show
I will try to get exact dimensions to everyone this week. Everyone will have at least 10 feet wide and about 2-3 feet deep. Some people will have around 15 feet wide, depending on your space needs. I'll work on getting out a floor plan around Tuesday or Wednesday.
An idea for displaying is wrapping craft wire around the railing, forming a hook, and hanging some pieces that way. If you have a table, you could use tabletop easels.
I hope this information was useful. Since this is a new venue, I'm not exactly sure the best way to display.
