My name is Tim C. Thompson. I also go by Aleister Q. Nixon, or Sgt. Rock. I am a working musician/artist living in Des Moines' world-famous East Village. I do a lot of painting and writing in my spare time. I currently work for the largest DVD/Video Game Distribution company in the known universe. The pay ain't great, but it does afford me a ton of flexibility. I spend as much time as I can with my 17 month-old daughter, Thora. She is my life, my love, and I always want her to be proud of her daddy.
I would like to see all factions of the Des Moines art-scene evolve into something that the entire city/state can take pride in. Unfortunately, and I see it often in the music scene, there are too many lone wolves out there seeking personal glory, and at times, go so far as to sabotage other musicians and up-and-comers. Sadly, ego-mania and arrogance will never completely go away. However, there are remedies out there (The 3 C's), and they are pretty easy to use. Compromise. Communication. Cooperation. Simple. Any fool can start a fight. It takes intelligence, understanding, and compassion to solve problems and address issues.
The age of selfishness (The Me Age), must pass. Ignorance and stupidity can no longer be tolerated in this society. The true/pure artist will always survive ... we find a way. Let's start a tribe.

I love the passion and conviction I hear in your bio. My kids are the world to me as well. It is so easy to live by the "Do as I say, not as I do." philosophy, but with kids, what you show is what they know. I try to model unselfishness, self-control, and compassion to them daily. I look forward to getting to know you more!
