Looking ahead to December
Well, unfortunately, the Halloween show will not be happening. Amy was looking into getting some kind of "paranormal" show in the theatre on Halloween night, plus there's just not enough time to do all the planning and marketing. Maybe next year.
That being said, I have talked to her about doing a Christmas-themed show in early December, possibly Friday the 5th. I think we can have a lot of fun with it. We could do door prizes, put up a Christmas tree and lights, and oh so much more.
Now, as most of you are aware, we had 2 artists bail on the last show, and this threw the budget off. We are still about $70 in the red. I can figure this debt into the budgeting for the December show. I don't think we'll do an ad in CityView next time, which will save us $180. I have been in touch with a marketing specialist who is going to trade me some services for some art. She may help us promote the show too, if some of us are willing to trade some of our creations.
I'll start throwing together some ideas, but let me know if you're interested/available.

Re: Looking ahead to December
Count on me. I will trade out for damn near anything. That's too bad about the Halloween show, was looking forward to it. I would like to host an art day at my shop on the 18th of October if anyone is interested. Maybe to a collaboration piece or two. I have lots of room and it is pretty easy to find. Also, Pink Elephant tattoo is having a Zombie Party on the 11th of October if anyone is interested, should be a fun time.

The art day sounds fun. Could be a good way to get new people involved in the group, and doing a collaborative work could be fun too. Hopefully most everyone can come.
Re: Looking ahead to December
I'm not sure what I can do as far as trade, but I'm willing.
As far as the show goes, if I do ok on my first show in Nov. I'm sure I will want to do more.
So I will keep checking back to see what is happening next.
Or if anyone thinks of something just let me know.
Thanks,
Aunita

Re: Looking ahead to December
Jim is going to try a different contact to see if we could somehow do a show at the Kalidescope in the skywalk system on a Friday in November or December. We'll keep you posted.
If anyone has a contact with someone about this, let me know.

Re: Looking ahead to December
The Kalidescope is a nice place, but I really don't think it's an ideal place for an art show, at least not a one-night event. All the shops close by late afternoon, and after that, it's just not a place where people go. Capitol Square could be a possibility, but again, not really a destination on weekends.
But you guys should find and talk to the contact people anyway, for future reference. Let us know what you find out.

Re: Looking ahead to December
Yeah, I agree. I was thinking that we would see if we could do it during the daytime to catch all of the workers. I've seen dance studios have exhibitions during the lunch hour. This is what I would like to do. Again, just seeing about possibilities. I know during the day would limit a majority of people.
Re: Looking ahead to December
the day works better for me on the weekdays. I work M-F 8pm to 12pm so I have to shoot for weekend shows or weekday shows.
Re: Looking ahead to December
I could do an afternoon show. I think that would be pretty fun, in and out in a couple hours. I would be willing to body paint again.

Not meaning to be negative but I think we need to look at showing at other places. I think using the same place more than twice a year is plenty. Im sure there are a lot of places we could show if we just get out and ask.
